Strategies for reopening in the forthcoming COVID-19 era in China

The transmission of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2), the culprit pathogen of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), has resulted in more than 0.43 billion cases and 6 million deaths globally. Compared with other existing variants of concern, the Omicron variant is characterized by significantly greater infectivity (Ro ≈ 6), greater tropism of the upper respiratory tract and lower severity of human infections. These characteristics of the Omicron variant are the basis upon which several developed countries are considering reopening.

[Chine] Xi Jinping signe un ordre pour honorer quatre personnes pour leur contribution exceptionnelle à la lutte contre l’épidémie de COVID-19

La Médaille de la République a été conférée à Zhong Nanshan, expert renommé des maladies respiratoires. Le titre honorifique national, baptisé “Le héros du peuple”, a été décerné à Zhang Boli, expert en médecine traditionnelle chinoise qui a présidé les recherches du programme de traitement du COVID-19 en combinant la médecine traditionnelle chinoise et la médecine occidentale, à Zhang Dingyu, chef de l’hôpital Jinyintan, hôpital spécialisé dans le traitement du COVID-19 à Wuhan, et à Chen Wei, scientifique médicale militaire qui a réalisé des avancées majeures dans la recherche fondamentale liée au COVID-19 et le développement de vaccins et de médicaments protecteurs.
