Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor announced a new trove of Covid-19 measures on November 30, 2020, following a surge in coronavirus cases in the city. Lam said Hong Kong’s civil servants are to begin working from home on Wednesday, December 2, amid a worsening fourth wave of the coronavirus. Restrictions on both public gatherings and diners per table at local restaurants will be tightened to two people. Gyms, sports venues and beauty parlours will remain open, but swimming pools and other entertainment venues will be forced to close down. On November 30, the city recorded 76 new Covid-19 cases.
